For the Cannondale aficionados out there, many will remember the Beast Of The East name from a time gone by. For 2017 however, the Beast Of The East is back, and it’s got a whole new frame and wheelsize this time around. Coming into the Cannondale line as a trail hardtail with 27.5x3.0” tyres and 120mm of suspension travel up front, the Beast Of The East is essentially the hardtail version of the Bad Habit. But why go for one of these over the Bad Habit? Well, not everyone wants or needs a full suspension mountain bike for their trails. And for those riders who still want a trail bike but prefer the idea of owning a bike that’s both simple and lightweight, then the Beast Of The East is likely going to appeal. A lot.

With a lightweight alloy frame that draws a lot from Cannondale’s lightweight F-Si hardtail range, the Beast Of The East employs many similar design aspects including the oversized head tube, BB30 bottom bracket, and slender micro suspension seat stay profile. However, the Beast Of The East frame is optimised for 27.5 plus wheels, and also features relaxed angles that better suit the longer travel 120mm fork on the front. Combined with the supple 3.0” wide tyres, the result is a hardtail that is more comfortable and more confidence inspiring to ride. Cornering grip from the plus tyres is incredible, and allows you to push the bike a lot harder than you would typically be able to do with a traditional hardtail mountain bike.

The Beast Of The East is available in two different models, with both featuring hydraulic disc brakes and a 1x drivetrain. Want even more confidence? The Beast Of The East frame is ready to take a dropper seatpost for those who want one.
