It really is hard to beat the versatility of a well-rounded trail bike. Sitting in between the superlight Scalpel F-Si race bike, and the long-travel Jekyll Enduro bike, the Habit aims to strike the ultimate balance between pedal efficiency, weight, and technical capability. And really, unless you’re racing, a trail bike like the Habit is the bike that most mountain bikers should be riding. It features a comfortable riding position that you can pedal around on all-day long, along with 120mm of smooth suspension travel and stable geometry that inspire confidence on a wide variety of terrain. Sure, the Jekyll will be a better choice for blasting black diamond trails and lift-assisted shenanigans, but if you see yourself as more of an ‘all rounder’, then the versatile Habit will likely offer much more appeal.

As one of the new models in the Cannondale line, the Habit brings fourth plenty of modern frame features and contemporary geometry to increase its technical capabilities off road. The Habit is built around 27.5” diameter wheels, with high volume 2.20” wide tyres that help to cushion you from the trail, while searching out any available traction. Cannondale has equipped the Habit with air-spring suspension, so all you need is a shock pump to setup the fork and shock to make it stiffer or smoother for different rider weights. The suspension design out back makes use of a pivot-less rear triangle, which is both simpler and lighter than a conventional setup. Combined with the 142x12mm thru-axle and laterally stiff chassis, the Habit offers precise and stable handling when flying over rocks and roots in the trail.

The Habit range kicks off with the Habit Alloy 6, which features a RockShox fork and a 2x10 Shimano drivetrain. Higher-end models are equipped with a BallisTec Carbon frame, and feature the Cannondale Lefty fork on the front. Want an even more capable bike? Then check out the Habit Carbon SE, which comes equipped with wider bars, more aggressive tyres and a beefy RockShox PIKE fork for added confidence in the rough stuff.
