If you’re into mountain biking, there’s a good chance you’re into fun. And if you’re into fun and having a good time on the trail, then a confident and comfortable partner like the Habit is a superb choice for you. The Habit sits in the middle of the Cannondale range, and occupies the space between the 100mm travel Scalpel Si race bike, and the 160mm travel Jekyll enduro bike. It isn’t quite as light or as fast on the racetrack as the Scalpel Si, and it doesn’t have the same flat-out stability and descending prowess as the Jekyll. What it does do however, is allow you to ride a wide variety of terrain and different trail types on a fast and confidence-inspiring bike that is quite simply, a heck of a lot of fun to ride. If you prefer racing flat-out on XC trails, then the lighter Scalpel Si or the F-Si hardtail are the better tools for the job. Not so fussed by racing and just want to enjoy exploring new trails on the weekend with your mates? Then you’re looking at the right option.

With 120mm of suspension travel front and rear, the Cannondale Habit aims to strike a balance between efficient pedalling and bump-smoothing control. The riding position is relatively upright, so you can cruise around all day long with plenty of comfort. Further helping with comfort, Cannondale has spec’d the Habit Women’s models with a female specific saddle and narrower handlebars that better suit slimmer shoulders. That means the bike fits better out of the box, so you don’t have to mess around with changing parts just to get it right for you. For shorter female riders, the Habit Women’s is also available in an X-Small size, so you won’t need to compromise just to get on the bike you want. Also worth noting is the air-adjustable suspension, which means you can setup the Habit to fit just as well whether you’re 45kg or 95kg. Simply add or subtract air pressure to make the suspension firmer or softer.

The Habit is available in both carbon and alloy versions. The Habit Carbon is lighter and easier to push up the hills, but also features higher quality suspension, a dropper seatpost and a sleek 1x11 Shimano drivetrain.
