There are many carbon bikes on the market that claim to be ‘superbikes’, but few of those actually live up to the bold claims. One bike that likely does live up the claim however, is the SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod from US company Cannondale. The SuperSixEVO was first introduced back in 2011, and very quickly rose to become one of the most desirable high-end road bikes on the market. With an incredibly low weight combined with responsive handling and a smooth ride quality, the SuperSix EVO captured the imagination of road racers all around the globe who wanted a precision race bike with a refined ride quality. Whilst the Synapse is Cannondale’s endurance road bike, the Super Six EVO Hi-Mod is a lighter, tighter and more tenacious race machine that is ideally suited to fast-paced road riding and criterium racing.

As with the regular SuperSix EVO Carbon, the SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod features the same technologies that were rolled out with the new frame in 2016. That includes the new wider BB30a bottom bracket shell, and a redesigned full-carbon fork that is both lighter and slimmer in its profile compared to the old version. The result is a new chassis that is lighter, more compliant, and more aerodynamic than anything Cannondale has ever produced before. Compared to the regular SuperSix EVO Carbon, the SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod features exactly the same geometry and the same tube shaping, but swaps in high and ultra-high modulus carbon fibre to further reduce weight and increase stiffness. The ride difference between the two frames is subtle, but the Hi-Mod is marginally stiffer and more responsive when laying down the gas. As for weight, the latest SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod frame weighs in at just 777-grams. Combined with Cannondale’s own fork, headset and seatpost, the 1303-gram system weight is one of the lightest in the world.

There are multiple spec levels available with the SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod frame, with your choice of electronic or mechanical shifting options from SRAM and Shimano. For 2017 there’s also a new disc brake version that features hydraulic disc brakes, Shimano Ultegra shifting and Mavic wheels.
