You’ve been rising up the ranks of your local cyclocross race series, and you’re starting to wonder if it’s time to upgrade the beaten up alloy ‘cross bike you’ve been hammering around on. You know that it’s definitely time to take the next step and that you want to start taking things more seriously. You’re thinking about getting some coaching, as you’ve putting in the training time in the off-season and your fitness is getting better week-by-week. Perhaps its time to get a dedicated race bike then? Something lightweight, something carbon, and something that’s purpose built for getting you to the finish line as fast as possible. If you’re ready to take the next step, the SuperX Women’s cross bike from Cannondale is ready to go there with you.
Like the unisex SuperX, the SuperX Women’s frameset is brand new for 2017. First introduced in 2011, the SuperX originally debuted as Cannondale’s first carbon fibre cyclocross race bike. The new version carries on that mantle, but amps things up to ’11. The carbon frame is now lighter than ever at less than a kilo, which along with the 390gm carbon fork makes for the SuperX lighter than many other brands flagship road racing bikes. Cannondale has also tweaked the geometry on the SuperX to provide its rider with more stability and confidence on the descents, while retaining that nimble feel for slicing and dicing sharp corners on the racetrack. Compared to the unisex SuperX, the Women’s version specs a female specific saddle along with narrower handlebars that mean the bike offers a more comfortable fit out of the box. Cannondale has also spec’d a SRAM 1x11 drivetrain that offers simpler shifting and lower weight than a traditional 2x11 drivetrain. The SuperX Women’s also features hydraulic disc brakes, thru-axle wheels and sleek internal cable routing.
