For those out there who have been riding for some time, Cannondale is likely to be best known for its history with producing superlight alloy road bikes and mountain bikes. In more recent years however, it has been Cannondale’s experience with carbon fibre that has seen them continually push the technological boundaries of what’s possible when it comes to producing a superlight race machine. As it stands, the SuperSix EVO Carbon is the pinnacle of Cannondale’s technological evolution, with one of the lightest frames on the market. Built with sharp angles and an aggressive riding position, the SuperSixEVO Carbon is a flat-out race bike that’s designed with the singular goal of going as fast as possible.

The SuperSix EVO platform was redesigned for 2016, with a number of new technologies having been adopted to increase overall comfort for the rider. The new SAVE seatpost uses a skinnier 25.4mm diameter that allows for more flex underneath the saddle, while SAVE-shaped seatstays and fork legs also increase the SuperSix EVO’s ability to soak up road vibrations. Despite the increase in compliance, Cannondale has increased power transfer by switching to a wider BB30a bottom bracket shell. Oversized bearings are pressed inside the frame, and they allow for a fatter 30mm crank axle to be used, which is both lighter and stiffer than a traditional 24mm spindle. Further enhancing the new SuperSix EVO Carbon frame is the use of truncated tube profiles, which have increased the frames aerodynamic performance to reduce wind drag over the course of a road race. All up, the new SuperSix EVO Carbon is lighter, while also being smoother and faster to ride than the previous model.

The SuperSix EVO Carbon range kicks off with a Shimano 105 spec that offers race-ready performance at an accessible price point. You can also get the SuperSix EVO with a Shimano Di2 electronic groupset, and there’s even a disc brake model for those riders looking for more consistent braking performance.
