In years gone past, a road bike was just a road bike. In more recent times however, the road bike has splintered off into three distinct versions. You’ve got aerodynamic race bikes like the Cervelo S-Series, and you’ve got superlight climbing bikes like the Cervelo R-Series. For the riders who just want to ride as much as possible, for as long as possible, on as many different road surfaces as possible, there’s the Cervelo C-Series. Developed as an endurance road bike, the C3 puts less focus on weight and aerodynamics, and instead aims to deliver the most comfortable ride possible on two wheels, while keeping things light and fast. Ideal for those riders who want an all-round road bike that’s capable of gran fondo events and sportive racing, while being able to back it up the following weekend with a 250km alpine epic, the Cervelo C-Series packs in all the technologies and features you’d expect of a flagship race bike, just in a more comfortable and easier-to-ride package.
Coming in underneath the C5, the C3 is the value-packed option in the Cervelo C-Series. It uses exactly the same geometry and frame technology as the C5, but with a slightly heavier grade of carbon fibre that helps to bring the price down. Otherwise, you’ll find the same wind-cheating Squoval tubing that helps to make the C3 cut through the wind, without having to resort to enormous teardrop tubes that reduce stability in cross winds. The Squoval tubing also allows for larger cross-sections around the head tube and bottom bracket that decrease unwanted flex when you’re hammering out of the saddle. Along with the hollow 12mm thru-axles on the full-carbon fork and rear dropouts, the C3 maintains the crisp steering of a race bike, albeit with far more stability thanks to the longer wheelbase. Other neat details on the C3 frame include fully internal cable routing, incredibly thin seat stay tubes that help to soak up road vibrations, and a lower bottom bracket height that lowers overall centre of gravity. All up, the Cervelo C3 is smooth, confidence inspiring and highly stable out in the real world.
Choose from Shimano Ultegra mechanical or electronic shifting with the C3 models. Shimano also delivers hydraulic disc brakes for smooth power delivery and impressive modulation and high-speed control.
