Want to ride further and faster than you ever have before? With an integrated pedal-assist 250W motor and a lightweight internal rechargeable battery, the Focus Bold² is designed to amplify your riding efforts so you can explore more trails in the same amount of time that you would on a regular mountain bike. A brand new model for Focus, the Bold² joins the line up as the company’s lightest and sleekest e-bike yet. Focus started out with the existing Bold platform, which offers an upright and comfortable riding position, confidence-inspiring geometry and high volume tyres that deliver plenty of squish and loads of grip on rough off-road trails. They then worked in conjunction with Shimano to integrate the XT-level STEPS E8000 drivetrain into the Bold frame, along with a unique battery that is hidden inside the downtube. The result is a powerful, lightweight and elegant mountain bike that is designed to offer you a new go-anywhere ability never experienced before.
Developed in parallel with the new JAM² full suspension e-bike, the Bold² is essentially the hardtail version. Like the JAM², the Bold² uses a lightweight hydroformed alloy frame, and is available in both 27.5 and 29in wheel setups, so you can choose the right wheel size for your riding conditions. It comes with a 120mm travel suspension fork up front, and features powerful hydraulic disc brakes for slowing you down when you’re blasting downhill at speed. The Shimano STEPS E8000 drivetrain is cleverly hidden into the frame, and the 250W pedal-assist motor offers you three modes of power; Eco, Trail and Boost. In each setting you have to pedal for the motor to apply torque to the rear wheel, and the motor also senses how hard you pedal. Pedal harder and faster, and the motor will put out more power. Pedal softly, and the motor will only put in a small amount of assist. The battery is rechargeable, and the entire system is completely waterproof, so you can take the Bold² through backcountry river crossings and deep puddles without need to worry.
Both Bold² models come with the Shimano STEPS E8000 drivetrain and feature Shimano Di2 shifting. They also feature DT Swiss wheels and a stealth dropper seatpost. The Bold² Plus comes with 27.5x2.8in tyres, whereas the Bold² 29 comes with 29x2.4in tyres.
