One of the fastest growing segments in cycling over the past decade has been the e-bike category. With a concealed motor hidden inside the bottom bracket, an e-bike offers the rider additional output via a pedal-assist function. What that means is that as you pedal, the motor increases your output by adding in extra power to the rear wheel. For your average rider, that could mean you can arrive at your destination with less effort. For a mountain biker, it means you can climb faster, ride further, and pack in more trails into the same space of time. And if you’re the sort of rider who prefers descending to climbing, then you’ll likely see the appeal of an e-MTB like the Focus JAM². Based on the 140mm travel JAM platform, theJAM² is a highly capable full suspension trail bike that offers an upright and relaxed riding position. Combined with its grippy tyres and 250 Watt Shimano STEPS E8000 drivetrain, the JAM² is a fun and playful trail bike that can go further and faster than you’ve likely ever ridden before.

Released at the same time as the BOLD², the JAM² is basically the full suspension version. It’s equipped with 140mm of rear suspension travel via the single pivot F.O.L.D design, and it comes with a beefy 140mm travel RockShox fork on the front. Focus offer the JAM² with both 29in and 27.5 plus wheels, so you can choose whether you want the more direct handling of the 29in wheels, or the bigger cushioning of the 27.5 plus tyres. Unlike many other e-MTBs on the market, the JAM² is lightweight and sleek. Focus worked alongside Shimano to develop its own battery that is hidden inside the frame’s downtube. The battery is rechargeable, and it is significantly lighter than the batteries used on competitors bikes. The result is a low overall weight for the JAM², and an on-trail feel that is very similar to the standard JAM.

Both JAM² models come with the same Shimano 1x11 drivetrain, along with a dropper post, powerful hydraulic disc brakes and tubeless compatible wheels.
