Looking for a fast and lightweight mountain bike? Then it doesn’t get much better than a carbon hardtail like the Focus Raven. Although contemporary road and cyclocross bikes are beginning to feature disc brakes and wider tyres, nothing quite beats the versatility and all-terrain capability of a proper mountain bike with high volume tyres and purpose built geometry. For slicing up tight singletrack, descending down rough 4WD tracks, and smashing along backcountry dirt roads, the Focus Raven is an ideal companion that will allow you to go further and harder than any drop-bar bike out there. Drawing from the high-end Raven Max, the Focus Raven also uses a carbon fibre frame, along with numerous modern technologies that make it a highly refined ride. It isn’t quite as light as the Raven Max, so purist racers will want to look to the higher-end models. But for anyone wanting a light, efficient and comfortable hardtail to take on a wide variety of riding types, the Focus Raven is a great mountain bike.

Just like the Raven Max, the Focus Raven features thru-axles front and rear for maximum stiffness and rigidity between the chassis and the wheels. Sharp geometry and a low riding position allows you to get plenty of power down, while the PF30 bottom bracket ensures that every Watt from the pedals goes straight into the rear wheel. Overall shaping on the Raven mirrors the pricier Raven Max frame, including the sleek internal cable routing, and the carefully engineered seat tube junction that allows for more seat tube flex and therefore, more rider comfort. Combined with the Raven’s high volume 29er tyres and 100mm suspension fork up front, you’ll be able to enjoy a smooth and supple ride even when skipping over potholes and washouts on the trail.

The Raven line kicks off the Raven Core, which is equipped with a Shimano SLX 2x11 drivetrain, Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and an air-adjustable RockShox Recon SL fork.
