We are big believers in the n+1 theory of bike ownership. However, for many people there is only space for a single mountain bike. And if you really can only have one mountain bike (not that we support this idea), the Liv Embolden is a fine contender. Why is that I hear you ask? The Liv Embolden is pure-bred trail bike, and the great thing about trail mountain bikes is that they are extremely adaptable. The 27.5” wheel size and confidence inspiring geometry make the Embolden somewhat of a chameleon. For everyday trail rides, the Embolden is perfect right out of the box. But if you are  stepping up to more technical all-mountain or enduro style trails, strapping on some larger volume tyres and dialling out low speed compression damping will transform the Embolden into a far more capable machine. The Liv Embolden can be transformed for different riding conditions simply by adjusting your riding position, suspension and tyre choice. And this is exactly why this category of bike is so popular.

Without doubt, our favourite head tube angle is 68 degrees and that’s what you get on the Embolden. We love it because it is indicative of a geometry that is fun and playful out of the trail. With 27.5” wheels, this geometry is a great combo and one that will make this one of Giant’s most popular mountain bikes in 2018. Built on Giant’s FlexPoint suspension design, the Embolden frame has fewer pivot points making the bike lighter and less prone to maintenance issues. In terms of fit, the frame is designed with a low bottom bracket and long top tube so that shorter stems can be used. These modern geometry features deliver a stable ride with razor sharp steering.

The Liv Embolden is available in two models. The entry level Embolden 2 comes with Deore and Olivo level componentry. If you are looking for a Shimano SLX level bike, the Embolden 1 will be your choice. This model also comes with a Fox Rhythm fork which is a nice upgrade from the entry level model’s Suntour fork. Both models come with Giant’s XC wheels and a dropper post as standard, which again makes the bike trail ready right out of the box.
