When the going gets rough, steep and technical, there’s no better tool for the job than an all mountain bike like the Giant Reign. Equipped with 160mm of suspension travel, powerful disc brakes, chunky tyres and a dropper seatpost, the Reign is a long travel full suspension bike that eats rocks and roots for breakfast. The Reign features more suspension travel than the Trance, and it’s geometry is longer, lower and slacker, which makes it feel much more planted when pointed downhill. Unlike the Glory downhill bike though, the Reign is still capable of pedalling uphill thanks to the efficient Maestro suspension design and an air-adjustable rear shock. There are four Reign models available in the range, though each one relies on the same 160mm travel suspension design and 27.5” diameter wheels. Giant have used a slack 65-degree head angle for the Reign, which offers masses of confidence when you’re lobbing the front wheel off of drops and jumps. Combined with the wide handlebars and short stem, the Reign is more capable than most downhill bikes from only a few years ago. The stable geometry is paired to a strong and stiff chassis that sees oversized tubing, a beefy tapered head tube and a wide-stance press-fit bottom bracket shell. All pivots roll on sealed cartridge bearings for durability, and the Reign features thru-axles front and rear to keep the wheels nice and taut.
Starting at the entry-level Reign 2, each model is equipped with a 160mm travel fork, tubeless compatible wheels and a 1x drivetrain with a taco bash plate. If you’re looking for the lightest and strongest package, the Reign Advanced 0 utilises a carbon fibre frame, carbon wheels and a SRAM 1x12 Eagle drivetrain.
