The Giant TCR is one of the most well recognised names on the road cycling circuit, having first been introduced to the world back in 1997. It’s been the cornerstone of Giant’s road bike line up ever since, earning universal praise for its light overall weight, smooth ride quality and sharp race-oriented handling. Over the past two decades though, Giant’s manufacturing abilities have progressed immensely, with new materials and construction techniques allowing for higher levels of performance not seen before. In recent years, Giant has also since introduced the Propel as their aero race bike, and the Defy as their endurance road bike. All of these factors have given the TCR a renewed focus as Giant’s all-round race machine, which is now lighter and faster than ever before. If you need a race bike but want something lighter and more comfortable than the Propel, the TCR is your answer.

The TCR range is available in three different versions: the TCR Advanced SL, the Advanced Pro and the Advanced. The Advanced SL frame is built from lighter T-800 carbon fibre, while the Advanced Pro and Advanced frames utilise the same T-700 carbon fibre construction. The only other difference in the chassis is that the TCR Advanced uses a carbon fork with an alloy steerer tube, so it adds on a few grams. Otherwise you’re still getting all the same features as the more expensive TCR models, including the new Variant carbon seatpost that maximises vertical compliance at the saddle. You also have the ability to fit the integrated RideSense cadence/speed sensor, which offers wireless transmission of your riding speed, distance and pedalling RPM. The RideSense sensor can be purchased aftermarket, and it’ll pair with your smartphone or Garmin head unit for a clean and fully integrated data system.

Starting from $2099 the TCR Advanced range allows you access to a high performance carbon frameset at a great price. Joining the range for 2017 is the TCR Advanced Disc, which adds in hydraulic disc brakes for added braking control and dependability in mixed conditions.
