There are two ways to look at a cyclocross bike. You can look at it as a pure cyclocross race rig, with tough components and purpose-built geometry designed to pilot you tovictory. Or you can look at it as a highly versatile do-it-all vessel. A bike that can be ridden off road, on road, as a commuter, as a winter training bike, as a race bike, or even as a lightweight dirt tourer. Indeed the cyclocross platform is probably one of the most versatile styles of bikes going, and it’s a big reason why they’re so popular amongst so many different types of riders.
Based upon the high performance TCX Advanced Pro frame, the TCX SLR utilises the same geometry and the same frame features, but puts them together into a slick hydroformed alloy tubeset. It’s not quite as light as the carbon version, but the TCX SLR offers incredible value for money for riders who may be less serious about racing, and more interested in the versatility of a cyclocross bike. On that note, the TCX SLR comes with hidden rack and mudguard mounts, so it’s ready to be setup as a reliable commuting steed should you want to go down that route. Giant have equipped the TCX SLR with a carbon fibre fork and the D-Fuse carbon seatpost to help increase comfort and vibration damping. 35c wide tyres also increase comfort and traction, though there’s clearance to fit wider rubber should you choose to do so.
