As one of Giant’s most popular full suspension mountain bikes, the Trance is a highly versatile platform that’s capable of taking on a wide variety of trails and riding styles. In relation to the Giant range, the Trance sits squarely between the XC-oriented Anthem and the long-travel Reign. By definition, it’s a trail bike, which means it’s just as happy riding XC trails all day long as it is chasing your mates down swooping technical singletrack. Giant achieve this by combining an efficient suspension design with tough components and handling that exudes stability and confidence on the descents. Sure you can get lighter bikes, and you can also get heavier duty bikes with more travel. But if you’re not so fussed about racing and you want a versatile mountain bike that places the emphasis on the fun factor, the Trance is the right choice for you.

The Trance was one of the first Giant full suspension bikes to debut the Maestro suspension design, with two small links connecting the solid rear triangle to the mainframe. The latestTrance pumps out 140mm of suspension travel, which is activated by a new one-piece composite rocker arm. The suspension feel is smoother thanks to the sealed bearings in the trunnion mount, and the stout linkage helps to increase rear-end stiffness. Boost thru-axle spacing also helps to strengthen the Trance’s wheels and chassis, offering more responsive handling and better tracking when diving into technical terrain.

There are five Trance models in total, three of which use an alloy frame, and the top two models getting an Advanced Composite frame. Each model features the same frame geometry, air-adjustable suspension, tubeless compatible wheels and hydraulic disc brakes. And with the exception of the entry-level Trance 3, each model also gets a 1x drivetrain and a dropper seatpost.
