Like the Stumpjumper, the Enduro is a storied name within the Specialized mountain bike lineup. It's a bike that has evolved considerably over the last decade, gradually becoming more and more capable as technologies have allowed frames to get lighter, wheels to get stiffer, tyres to get grippier and suspension to get even more sensitive. The result of all of this innovation is the 2018 Specialized Enduro, which comes to the fore as the company's flagship long travel all mountain bike. Possessing more travel than the Stumpjumper along with slacker angles and a longer wheelbase, the Enduro increases its downhill capabilities so you can send it down the steepest, gnarliest and most technical singletrack you can think of. Unlike a downhill specific bike like the Demo however, the Enduro is still built to take you uphill. It's lightweight frame, efficient FSR suspension design and upright riding position ensure that you can churn your way up the steepest climbs in order to bomb yourself back down all over again.

The latest Enduro is available in both 27.5” and 29” wheeled versions, and you can also get it with an alloy or carbon fibre frame. While each wheel size has its own pros and cons, the Enduro 29 is one of the most sought-after race bikes on the enduro circuit, thanks to its ability to maintain monstrous speed across seriously ugly terrain. The larger diameter wheels help to smooth out trail irregularities, whilst creating a higher gyroscopic effect that gives you more momentum when things get wild and wooly. Compared to the Enduro 27.5, the 29er model features 165mm of rear wheel travel via the smooth FSR suspension design. A big 160mm travel fork keeps the front wheel tracking on hard hits, with larger diameter stanchions increasing overall chassis stiffness that delivers more precision and control.

The Enduro 29 range kicks off with the Comp model, which gets a RockShox Yari fork and a slick 1x11 drivetrain. Want the lightest option? That'd be the S-Works model with its FACT 11m carbon fibre frame, Ohlins RXF 36 fork and SRAM 1x12 Eagle drivetrain.
