As many experienced riders will know, the original Specialized Stumpjumper is credited as being one of the first proper mountain bikes on the market, having first been debuted back in 1981. The latest model has evolved considerably since then, and for 2017, the Stumpjumper range is offered in three different wheelsize options: a 29er, a 27.5” model and the 6Fattie model with its 27.5+ tyres. Wheelsize options aside, the latest Stumpjumper FSR is still designed as a do-anything full suspension mountain bike. And thanks to its refined FSR suspension design and modern trail-inspired geometry, the new Stumpjumper FSR has never been so capable of taking on the whole mountain.

With 135mm of rear wheel travel and a 150mm travel fork up front, the Stumpjumper FSR 29 is billed as a versatile trail bike that loves to eat up technical singletrack. In terms of travel, it sits between the lightweight Camber 29 trail bike, and the big-travel Enduro 29. It isn't quite as light as the Camber, and it isn't quite as burly as the Enduro, but what the Stumpjumper FSR does is combine the best of both worlds to produce a really fun and versatile machine. Compared to the 27.5” and 6Fattie versions, the Stumpjumper 29 offers more speed and rock-gobbling momentum thanks to its larger diameter wheels. This makes it ideal for covering longer distances at speed, and it also helps the Stumpjumper FSR 29 highly capable when it comes to climbing up steep and loose technical climbs. Combined with the active FSR suspension design and its high-volume Specialized 2.3” tyres, the Stumpjumper FSR 29 is wicked fast when the going gets rough.

Choose from carbon and alloy frame options in the Stumpjumper FSR 29 range, with the S-Works model topping out the line up thanks to its FACT 11m carbon frame, carbon Roval wheels and trick Ohlins suspension.
