The latest model to join the Venge range is the brand new Venge ViAS Disc. Taking the same FACT 11r carbon fibre frameset as the regular Venve ViAS, the disc model equips the rider with powerful hydraulic disc brakes that assist with fine-tune modulation, whilst decreasing effort at the levers. More braking power means you’ll have the confidence to brake much later in the corners, so you can exit with more speed. Combined with the stiff chassis and thru-axle wheelset, the Venge ViAS Disc is a deadly weapon for chasing glory on the racetrack. The frameset still features the same focus on aerodynamics as the rim-brake model, with a teardrop-shaped seat tube and neat sculpted wheel cut outs to help manage wind drag. On the lookout for all-day riding comfort? Then the Specialized Roubaix may be the better choice for you. But for riders on the hunt for a precision tool for racing criteriums, you’ll be hard pressed to find a faster bike for high-speed hammering and hard sprinting towards the finish line.
Like the rest of the Venge range, the ViAS Disc was developed in Specialized’s own wind tunnel. Every surface on the bike has been scrutinised for maximum aerodynamic efficiency, and it’s why you won’t be able to see any loose cables anywhere. Everything is tucked away neatly and integrated into the frame. That includes the headset and bottom bracket bearings, which are oversized to increase stiffness in the crucial areas that see the most force when you’re in top gear and putting down the power. Despite the total integration, the Venge ViAS Disc has been built with adjustability in mind. You can easily change the stem length, bar width and saddle position to help you achieve maximum efficiency and comfort. The thru-axle dropouts allow for simple wheel removal, as well as a strong junction that ensures your disc rotor lines up between the pads in the same position every time, so you don’t have to deal with annoying brake rub each time you refit the wheels.
