As one of the most aerodynamically advanced road bikes in the world, the Specialized Shiv is built with one goal in mind: ultimate top speed. Whereas the Tarmac is a lightweight all-round road bike, the Shiv is targeted towards triathletes and those racing time trial events, with its forward-leaning position, aero bars and outrageously teardrop shaped frame profile. Given that Specialized own their very own wind tunnel, you can be rest assured that every surface and every edge of the Shiv has been assessed for its efficiency and wind drag, to ensure the complete bike is as slippery as possible through the wind. Because the less drag you have, the faster you can go with less energy expired.
With this single and pure objective, Specialized have been able to equip the Shiv with everything a triathlete needs for tackling an ironman or short-course event. The aero bars are fully adjustable for getting you in the most comfortable position, while the aerodynamic carbon seatpost also offers height and offset adjustment to ensure your legs are pushing out as much power as possible. The frame itself is constructed from Specialized’s high-tech FACT carbon fibre, with a huge downtube and OSBB bottom bracket that makes the absolute most of your pedalling efforts. Additional integration comes in the form of a hidden hydration bladder inside the frame, so that you can stay hydrated without having to move from your riding position. Need more water for the really big races? Additional bottle cages can be used on the rear of the saddle for when you need to go long.
The Shiv is available as both a frame module for building up your very own customised superbike, as well as complete bike options starting from the Shimano Ultegra-equipped Shiv Expert.
