The original Domane first arrived on the scene back in 2012, debuting as Trek’s first foray into the ‘Endurance Race’ category. With its longer wheelbase and the innovative IsoSpeedDecoupler, the Domane was purpose built as a Spring Classics race machine. Building upon the Domane’s existing strengths, Trek have added IsoSpeed technology to the front of the bike to make the new Domane SLR one of the most compliant endurance race bikes on the market. Whereas the Madone is Trek’s aero race bike, and the Emonda is the superlight climber, the Domane is built to deliver all-day riding comfort and impressive stability on rougher surfaces. But whether you’re Fabian Cancellara taking on the famous cobbles of the Paris-Roubaix, or a weekend warrior looking for a smooth and comfortable road bike, the Domane really can do it all.
The SLR is the top level of the Domane range, and as such it receives high-grade OCLV 600 carbon fibre to deliver lighter weight and crucial stiffness through the oversized head tube and BB90 bottom bracket. The patented IsoSpeedDecoupler isolates the saddle from the rest of the frame, allowing the seatpost to flex back and fourth for unmatched vibration damping. Front IsoSpeed acts in the same way, helping to minimise vibrations from the road surface from reaching the riders contact points. Combined with the new IsoCore handlebar, the Domane SLR floats over bumps and irregularities in the road surface.
The Domane SLR is available in both disc and rim brake options, and it’s available in a variety of build options from the Shimano Ultegra-equipped Domane SLR 6 through to the SLR 9 with SRAM Red eTap.
