The trail hardtail is a mountain bike genre often left off the big brands’ line up as it tends to be considered a little niche. For this reason, too few riders have experienced the absolute exhilaration of riding this style of bike. The Trek Roscoe is the perfect addition to a stable of XC or full suspension mountain bikes as it provides a unique riding experience. The Roscoe keeps it simple by paring the bike down to the bare essentials, leaving the rider to experience the trail in a more honest way. And the bomb proof nature of this style of bike means you won’t ever have to “take it easy”. Alternatively, if you’re looking for a capable bike to hit up technical trails but don’t have the budget for a Fuel EX or Remedy, then the Roscoe is a great option.

Two key design elements that contribute to the handling of the Trek Roscoe is the shorter chainstays, which place the wheel further under the rider, coupled with a confidence inspiring 68-degree head angle. This short wheelbase and relaxed geometry work together to deliver an extremely nimble and manoeuvrable machine. And let’s not forget the 27.5+ wheel and tyre combo. The 2.8” tyres essentially equal grip, grip and more grip. What more can we say? Like most trail orientated mountain bikes these days, the Roscoe comes with cable routing ready for a dropper post. Alternatively, you can chaoose the Roscoe 8, which comes with a dropper post as standard.

The Roscoe 8 is going to be where it’s at for most people. It’s available in both unisex and women’s designs and comes with a solid parts mix across the board. We think the Bontrager dropper post will sway many people, as this is a major upgrade over the Roscoe 7. Sure, if you are really budget constrained, the Roscoe 7 is a very capable bike. However, for a few hundred dollars extra, the Roscoe 8 is a great balance of specification and price.
