Once you get past the stunning orange paint job, the value for money of the Roscoe 8 becomes apparent. A proper air adjustable fork with thru axle and lockout, dropper post, 1 x 11 drivetrain and Shimano brakes is a solid build for the money. The only must do before hitting the trails is to get your Trek dealer to fit some tubeless valves and sealant to drop some weight and allow you to run nice low pressures for maximum grip.
On the trail this bike is so much fun! There is endless grip from the plus tyres which also smooth out rougher trails. The short stem and wide bar put you in a great position to really attack the trail, you’ll find yourself popping off every root, rock and undulation on the trail.
If you’re coming from a more traditional hardtail you probably will feel the extra weight of the plus wheels and tyres.
I reckon the Roscoe 8 is an amazing bike for someone getting into mountain biking as it inspires confidence with the huge amounts of grip. It is also super fun to ride which is what mountain biking is all about!
