Founded in 1971, Cannondale quickly established itself as a company centred on innovation design and quality. Never wanting to just follow the crowd, Cannondale is credited with being the first to market with some significant new technology such as using Aluminium tube sets to build road bikes in the 80's that were lighter and stiffer than the traditional steel based frames.
Equally innovative in the mountain bike market, Cannondale were at the very beginning of full suspension mountain bikes with their release of the Delta V.E.S.T in 1990. From here the engineers continued this boundary-pushing trend with the "at the time" radical designs in the Super-V and Scalpal before going on to design the Lefty fork that is synonymous with Cannondale that continues development today.
Today, Cannondale continue this near-constant drive for improvement through their extensive sponsored rider programs and professional racing teams. The feedback provided by these groups alone is enough to keep the engineering depart very busy dreaming up ways to improve the performance to match the evolving expectations of riders.
